Arya clarified in a letter that he never made derogatory statements about the industry and expressed gratitude for the support from his fans.

Arya’s first release in 2011 was a cameo appearance in the Malayalam film Urumi. The same year, he appeared in Avan Ivan and received critical acclaim for his performance. In 2012, Arya starred in the action entertainer Vettai, which opened to positive reviews and became a commercial success.
