Vetrimaaran is a critically acclaimed Indian film director, producer, and screenwriter, primarily working in the Tamil film industry. Born on September 4, 1975, in Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, he completed his schooling in Chennai and pursued a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Loyola College.

After completing his degree, Vetrimaaran began his career as a journalist, writing for various magazines and newspapers. He then transitioned to the film industry as an assistant director to acclaimed filmmakers like Balu Mahendra and Bala.

Vetrimaaran made his directorial debut with the Tamil film “Polladhavan” in 2007, which was a commercial success and received critical acclaim. He then went on to direct “Aadukalam” in 2011, which won six National Film Awards, including Best Director and Best Screenplay. His other notable works include “Visaranai” (2015), which was India’s official entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards, and the “Vada Chennai” trilogy (2018-2022).
